Every year the DMACC Foundation receives many generous gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations. These fundraising efforts combined with earnings from the Foundation's investments provide student scholarships to hundreds of students annually. Last-Dollar Scholarship

Covers any tuition and fee gaps not covered by federal and state grants/scholarships for eligible Iowa residents enrolled in targeted, high-demand career and technical programs. Students must have an eligible Expected Family Contribution (EFC) at or below $20,000 on the FAFSA. If you qualify, you will be notified by the Financial Aid office via your DMACC email. Prai​​​rie Trail Scholarship

Scholarship awards are available to students who reside in the Prairie Trail Development. Selected recipients will be eligible for a maximum lifetime award of $10,000. Preference will be given to students who choose an educational institution based in Iowa.

Outside Schol​arships

Scholarships are offered by public and private agencies, organizations, colleges, and universities. Recipients are selected based on scholastic aptitude, essay, and financial need. Minimum or maximum awards vary. Scholarships are gift aid and do not need to be paid back. 2022 LINDA JUCKETTE FAMILY RURAL AND VETERAN SCHOLARSHIP

​Eligibility Criteria:  

  • Reside in a rural Iowa county as defined by Census Bureau data OR be a veteran or active-duty military personnel who resides in Iowa at the time of the application and at the time the  scholarships are awarded. Veteran and military applicants can live in any Iowa county and apply. View eligible rural Iowa county list here.
  • Enrolled or accepted in an accredited school of nursing, long-term care or health care administration program, physical or occupational therapy program, AA/AS/ADM, BA/BS/BSN, MS/MA, or MHA/MSN program, or planning to take long-term care certification classes, such as certified nursing assistant (CNA), certified medical assistant (CMA), certified dietary manager (CDM), certified activity director, or reimbursement certification (MDS or OASIS) classes during the 2022-2023 academic year. 
  • Submit a complete application form, including a 500-word essay, acceptance letter or transcript and one recommendation, by May 31, 2022. ​

Eligibility criteria:  The A&F Scholarships are available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution.

Accounting and Financial Women's Alliance (AFWA) Ames Chapter Scholarship

Adult Students in Scholastic Transition (ASIST) Scholarship, offered through the Des Moines Chapter of Executive Women International (EWI)

  • Adults 18 years of age or older, facing economic, social or physical challenges who are looking to improve their situation through educational opportunities. 
  • Entering an accredited college, university or trade school for the first time; non-traditional students already enrolled in an accredited program, an individual seeking training due to changes in the workplace or who are otherwise not a traditional college/trade school student recently finished with high school.

Annual Deadline: March 1st
  • Iowa resident
  • Attending an eligible Iowa college or university
  • Must have graduated from an eligible Iowa high school or completed a high school equivalency diploma within the last two years
  • Be a first-time freshman in the fall 2019 or spring 2020 semesters (unless you are renewing your scholarship award)
  • Enroll for at least 3 semester hours (or the trimester or quarter equivalent) in a program leading to an undergraduate degree, diploma or certificate
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Iowa Financial Aid Application by March 1
  • Have an eligible Expected Family Contribution (EFC) on the 2019-20 FAFSA. (The 2019-20 eligible EFC won't be determined until Spring 2019. For reference, the 2018-19 eligible EFC was $0 - $9,064)​

  • Enrolled (or enrolling) as full time student of accredited college/university within the United States for completion of undergraduate degree in Logistics or equivalent field.
  • Limit of one (1) entry per contestant.
  • Employees, professional affiliates, and agents of Allied Van Lines (and their immediate families) are not eligible.
  • The applicant must comply with IRS rules to qualify for the tax-free benefits of the scholarship, including following.
    1. It does not exceed your expenses;
    2. It is not designated or earmarked for other purposes (such as room and board), and does not require (by its terms) that it cannot be used for qualified education expense; and
    3. It does not represent payment for teaching, research, or other services required as a condition for receiving the scholarship.
  • You must be a Candidate for a Degree. You are a Candidate for a Degree if
    1. Attend a primary or secondary school or are pursuing a degree at a college or university, or
    2. Attend an educational institution that:

  • Eligible educational institution. American Board of Funeral Service Education Scholarship

Annual Deadline: March 1st or September 1st
  1. Have completed at least one semester (or quarter) of study in a program in funeral service or mortuary science education accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education.  Students in coordinated programs are only eligible for an award during the period of attendance at the American Board accredited institution.
  2. Have at least one term or semester remaining in his/her program which will commence after the award date (April or September) in order to be considered for a full award.  Students with less than a full term of study remaining will be considered for partial awards.
  3. Complete all forms required by the Scholarship Committee of the American Board of Funeral Service Education and submit them prior to the above deadline dates.  Late or incomplete applications will not be considered by the committee.
  4. Be a citizen of the United States.

American Chemical Society (ACS) Scholars Program

Annual Deadline: March 1st

African-American, Hispanic/Latino, or American Indian

  • U.S. citizen or permanent U.S. resident
  • Full-time student at a high school or accredited college, university, or community college
  • Demonstrate high academic achievement in chemistry or science (minimum 3.0 GPA)
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Major in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or a chemically-related science
  • Be planning a career in the chemical sciences
  • Students intending to enter Pre-Med of Pharmacy programs are not eligible for this scholarship.  

American Council of the Blind Scholarship

Eli​gibility Criteria:

  • ​ *Must provide certification of legal blindness from an ophthalmologist, optometrist or physician.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher
  • Two letters of recommendation from a current or recent instructor, career counselor or employer

American Red Cross – Jane Delano Student Nurse Scholarship

Annual Deadline: May 11th

​Eligibility criteria:

  • Have served as a Red Cross volunteer or employee
  • Have completed the equivalent of at least one year of college credits.
  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited United States nursing school.
  • Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in good Academic standing.

Asian & Pacific Islander American (APIASF) Scholarship Program

  • Be of Asian and/or Pacific Islander ethnicity as defined by the U.S. Census. 
  • Be a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States.  Citizens of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia and the Republic of Palau are also eligible to apply.

Children of Fallen Iowa Service Member Scholarship

Child or sibling of a deceased service member that died while serving in an active military status since September 11, 2001.

Qualifying Service Member is any of the following:

  • was a resident of Iowa at the time of entering military service
  • was assigned to unit based in Iowa at the time of death
  • was a resident of Iowa at the time of death
    • Death does not have to be combat-related
    • Active military status includes active federal service in the Armed Forces,  National Guard,  or Reserves
  • Student is attending or will attend an Iowa post-secondary educational institution
  • Unique applications presented to the scholarship committee in writing will be considered on a case-by case basis.

Children's Cancer Connection Empowering Scholarships

Annual Deadline: January 31st

​Eligibility criteria:  

  • Applicant must be directly affected by childhood cancer (including individuals who currently have or have had cancer before age 18, or a sibling of that individual)
  • Applicant must be within Children's Cancer Connection service area (living, treated or diagnosed in the state of Iowa)
  • Applicant must attend an accredited two or four year institution (trade school, college or university)
  • Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5

Collision Student Scholarships

Annual Deadline: February 14th

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Applicant must be currently attending (at the time of application) a school that offers an auto collision/auto body program and taking auto collision/auto body classes.
  • Applicant must have studied collision repair for at least one full semester prior to applying.**
  • Applicant’s school must have completed the Education Foundation’s Collision Repair School Solutions Survey on-line (Schools can contact us at scholarships@ed-foundation.org to see whether or not the survey has been completed.)

Community 1st Credit Union

The scholarship is open to high school seniors and current college students who are immigrants and who will be attending DMACC or Indian Hills CC in Fall 2021, with each college matching the scholarship amount that students receive from DREAM Iowa. ​The Eric Pardall Memorial Scholarship is a scholarship fund of North Lee Community Foundation and the Keokuk Area County Community Foundation.

*Student must live or have a permanent address in Lee County, and/or be a graduate of Central Lee High School, Fort Madison High School or Holy Trinity Catholic Schools.

Grand Lodge of Iowa Masonic Scholarships

Annual Deadline: February 1st
  • Graduating Iowa High School Senior
  • The scholarships are designed to assist graduating seniors in pursuing a post-secondary education in any state at an accredited institution which provides a two or four year college program. The scholarships may be used for any bona fide school related expense such as tuition, fees, and books.
 

Great Minds in Stem (GMIS) Scholarships

Annual Deadline: April 30th

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Applicant must be pursuing a science, technology, engineering or math degree
  • Overall Cum GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Applicant must be of Hispanic descent and/or must significantly demonstrate leadership or service within the underserved community.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program for the upcoming fall semester, at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university in the U.S.

Greater Iowa Credit Union Scholarships

Annual Deadline: April 23rd
  • Enrolled at Des Moines Area Community College with a minimum of six credit hours (completed 15 credit hours or equivalent)
  • Reside in the state of Iowa

Grundy County Memorial Hospital Foundation (GCMH) Healthcare Career Scholarship

Annual Deadline: May 31st
  • Student must currently be enrolled in an accredited healthcare career program leading to licensure or a clinical laboratory degree. (see list on website)
  • Student must have completed one semester in program. 
  • Student must be enrolled at least part time (min of 6 credits)
  • Student must reside in or have graduated from a high school in the Grundy County Memorial Hospital service area of Butler, Grundy, Harding and Tama counties or currently work at Grundy County Memorial Hospital.
  • Student must have a cumulative post-secondary GPA maintained at 2.5 or higher

Harrell Foster Care Scholarship

This scholarship program seeks to encourage and support African American high school students, who are or have been in foster care, pursue higher education by offsetting tuition costs, student loans, and/or expenses; while providing a mentor to help them transition and succeed through their first year of college.​​

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

Annual Deadline: February 14th
  • Must be of Hispanic Heritage
  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Must be a full-time student
  • U.S. Citizen, Permanent Legal Resident, DACA or Eligible Non-Citizen (as defined by FAFSA)
  • Complete FAFSA or state based financial aid application

Home Builders Association of Iowa Scholarship

Annual Deadline: March 31st
  • Pursuing a career in the home building industry and/or related trades
  • College age student between the ages of 18-25 years.

Hy-Vee Foundation Scholarship

Annual Deadline: February 8th

Eligibility Requirements:  

  • Applicant must have been employed at a Hy-Vee location (office, distribution, retail) or subsidiary location after ​June 1, 2018​
  • Applicant must be classified as a full-time student in their freshman, sophomore, or junior year during time of application process​​
  • Applicant must be classified as a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior at the time funds are disbursed.

IHCA Member Employee Scholarship

Iowa Association of Naturalists (IAN) Scholarship

Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence - Alice Barton Scholarship

Annual Deadline: November 30th
  • Survivor of Domestic Violence
  • Seeking your first college degree or technical job training
  • Been referred by a local domestic violence program
  • Completed the Allstate Foundation Financial Literacy curriculum offered at your local domestic violence program.

Survivors are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet all of the items listed above.

Iowa Corn Future of Iowa Agriculture Scholarship Program

Annual Deadline: February 1st

Eligibility:

  • Enrolled at an accredited U.S. 2-year or 4-year junior college, college or university, or graduate school, in a program of study that can equip the student to contribute to the agriculture industry in Iowa.
  • Applicant must be an Iowa Corn Growers Association member of son/daughter of an ICGA member.

Iowa Dental Foundation Scholarship

Student seeking education or further education in the fields of dentistry, dental hygiene, dental assisting or dental lab technician.

Iowa Environmental Health Assocation (IEHA) Scholarship

Iowa Farm Bureau Federation Scholarship

Annual Deadline: February 10th
  • Sons and daughters of Iowa Farm Bureau members are eligible, and must apply in the county where their Farm Bureau membership is held. If membership is held in more than one county, only one application may be submitted to a county Farm Bureau office.

The Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) is proud to support the Health Care Careers Scholarship program. Available through the Iowa Hospital Education and Research Foundation (IHERF), an IHA subsidiary, these scholarships of up to $7,000 ($3,500 per year for a maximum of two years, applicants must apply each year) each have supported higher education for more than 600 Iowa college students.

Additional Radiology programs have been added for 2022 - Radiology Clinician, Nuclear Medicine and MRI Technologist.

60 scholarships will be awarded in 2022.

The ultimate goal of this program is to fill Iowa health care positions that currently have a notable number of openings by offering significant financial support to students seeking health care education or training.  In exchange for that financial support, each award recipient must commit to working one year in an Iowa hospital for each year of scholarship award.
 
Placement opportunities will be identified for each IHA geographic district (a map is included with the application).  Scholarship applications will be scored, and awards made based on each applicant’s qualifications. All portions of the application form must be submitted by March 31, 2022.

  • U.S. Citizen or possess a Green Card
  • Intend to pursue a degree and career in an art or design field
  • Intend to enroll full-time in a U.S. accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 2.0 cumulative GPA
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Minority preference
