DMACC International Year will host "Morocco: A Tapestry of Tradition and Modernity" by Christina M. Sibaouih at all DMACC campuses.

Christina M. Sibaouih currently serves as Section Chief at the Iowa Department of Education. This presentation offers an immersive exploration of Moroccan society and culture through the lens of an American who has lived in Morocco. By weaving personal experiences with academic insights, we’ll examine how Morocco’s unique geographic location and complex history have shaped a vibrant, multifaceted culture. Key topics include Morocco’s blend of Berber, Arab, and European influences, evolving social structures, religious practices, and the ongoing negotiation between tradition and modernity. This session aims to provide an informed, nuanced understanding of a country that is modernizing while steadfastly preserving its rich heritage, with time for audience questions and discussion.
