How to Quit

Individuals begin using tobacco, and continue using tobacco, for any number of reasons: to relieve stress, to fit in with their friends, because they are bored, to be socially accepted.

Individuals may decide to quit using tobacco for any number of reasons: advice from doctor, family and friends, work place is tobacco free, expense.

But quitting is not always an easy thing to accomplish. Research shows that it may take an individual 6 to 10 attempts at quitting before they are successful. Some say this is similar to finding a diet that works. (Iowa Department of Public Health)
