Eligibility and Qualifications

​​DMACC TRIO-Student Support Services is funded to serve 220 select DMACC students. ​In order to be eligible for TRIO-Student Support Services, a student must be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, or meet the residency requirements for Federal student financial assistance and meet ONE of the following criteria:

First generation college student

  • Neither parent received a 4-year college degree or
  • The primary supportive parent did not receive a 4-year college degree, if student regularly resided with and received support from only one parent

Meet low-income guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

The term “low-income individual” means an individual whose family’s income for the preceding year did not exceed 150% of the poverty level amount. Please refer to the U.S Department of Education’s Office of Postsecond​ary Education website for income guidelines.

Possess a documented physical or learning disability

Eligibility status will be granted based on proper documentation of disability. Students who seek academic accommodations should complete an online application for accommodation.

In addition to meeting one of the eligibility criteria, the student must meet the following qualifications:

  • Enrolled in 9 credits, 6 of which are college level credits (100 or above)
  • ENG 105
    • Successfully completed ENG 105 or
    • Enrolled in ENG 105 or
    • Earned an Accuplacer Next Gen score sufficient to enroll in ENG 105
  • Pursuing an Associate of Arts Degree or an Associate of Science Degree
  • Priority given to students who plan to complete an AA or AS degree followed by transfer to a 4-year college or university​
