There are several levels of credentialing in nursing, but the majority of the workforce today consists of RNs.
DMACC currently offers an ADN nursing program for RN licensure and a PN program.
Regardless of the level of education, nurses should be caring, sympathetic, responsible, and detail oriented. They must have good written and verbal communication skills. Nurses must be able to direct or supervise others, correctly assess and accurately record patients' conditions, and determine when consultation is required. Nursing professionals work daytime, evening or overnight hours, with weekend shifts and holiday work being common. They need emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.

Associate Degree Nursing Program Outcomes
- Performance on the license exam: the expected level of achievement for annual pass rate for the NCLEX-RN will be at or above 80% for all first-time test takers.
- Program completion: the expected level of achievement for program completion rate will be at or above 60%.
- As of July 2021, completion rate includes only students who graduate within 100% of the length of the program. Prior to July 2021, the completion rate included students who graduated within 150% of the length of the program.*
- Job Placement rates: the expected level of achievement for job placement rate will be at or above 60%.

Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing End of Program Student Learning Outcomes
Within the context of the scope of practice for either the associate degree nurse or the practical nurse, the DMACC ADN or PN graduate will achieve the following:
