  • DMACC sets an all-time summer term record for both headcount and credit hours. The 8,412 students talking summer term classes is a 9 percent increase over the summer of 2008 figures. The 48,033 credit hours of classes is up 11.85 percent from the summer of 2008 figures. (June 2008)

  • DMACC Volleyball player Bobbie Bayer is named a First Team All-American in volleyball for the second consecutive year. Bayer's teammate, Justine Young, is named an Honorable Mention All-American. (Dec. 2009)
  • DMACC takes fifth place in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Volleyball Tournament held in the Wisconsin Dells.   • A groundbreaking ceremony is held for the DMACC at Perry Center. (Oct. 2009)
  • DMACC's nursing program enters into a partnership with Des Moines University. The partnership allows DMACC Associate Degree Nursing students to travel to the DMU campus to participate in simulated emergency room cases in the Iowa Simulation Center for Patient Safety and Clinical Skills.   • DMACC Board members Jim Knott, Fred Buie, Joe Pugel and Kevin Halterman receive the oath of office. All four were re-elected to four-year terms. (Oct. 2009)
  • Enrollment at DMACC's six campuses soars to new records in headcount and credit hours. Headcount increased 19.4 percent to 22,324 students in the fall of 2009 compared to fall of 2008. The number of credit hours was up 20.2 percent with 194,179 credit hours taken by DMACC students. (Sept. 2009)

  • DMACC student Ryan Reekers of Fort Dodge places first in the Skills USA National Competition in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration division.   • B.J. McGinn is named the new DMACC men's head basketball coach. (June 2009)
  • DMACC sets an all-time summer term record for both enrollment and credit hours. Enrollment is up 10.58 percent with 9,302 students taking credit classes. The credit hour enrollment is up 13.2 percent to 54,354 credits.(June 2009)
  • DMACC baseball players Patrick Cooper of Danville, KY and Jake Astor of North Liberty are named to the 2009 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II All-American First Team. Earlier, they were named to the 2009 North Plains All-District Team. With the announcement, Astor becomes a two-time All-American. (June 2009)
  • DMACC baseball players Jake Astor, Patrick Cooper, Joel Hutter and Matthew Keys are named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) First Team. Mitch Mormann, Cole Nelson, Nick Anderson, Bradshad Johnson, Mark Schroeder and Tyler Robbins are named to the Second Team. Erick Holmes and Mark Radmacher are named to the Honorable Mention Team.   • DMACC's baseball team advances to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II College World Series for the second consecutive year. The Bears finish the season with a 55-11 record. (May 2009)

  • DMACC women's basketball player Likeisha Dotson of Sioux City signs a national letter of intent to play at Briar Cliff University. (Apr. 2009)
  • The University of Iowa and DMACC sign an agreement to allow DMACC students to earn a four-year degree without ever leaving DMACC. The new program starts in the fall of 2009. (Apr. 2009)

  • Orv Salmon steps downs as DMACC's Head Men's Basketball Coach but will remain as Athletic Director at the College. Salmon's teams compiled an overall record of 235-60 and two conference titles and two trips to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament in his nine years as a head coach at DMACC. (Mar. 2009)
  • DMACC Hospitality Career Associate Professor Phil Carey, DMACC Horticulture Professor Neal VanVeen and DMACC's Marketing and Public Relations Office receive a military coin from the Iowa Army National Guard. Only 300 of the coins were ever issued and DMACC received three of them. (Feb. 2009)
  • Fred Buie, president and CEO of Keystone Electrical Manufacturing Company in Des Moines, takes the oath of office as a new member of the DMACC Board of Directors. He completes the term vacated by Jim Crawford, who recently retired and moved out-of-state. (Feb. 2009)
