Cress Funeral & Cremation Service has been serving the Madison, Wisconsin, community since 1869. We are a dedicated team of funeral professionals who care about creating personalized tributes to each family we serve. With 8 locations throughout Dane County, we are honored to have the privilege of helping people of many different backgrounds say goodbye to their loved ones.

Why Serve Your Apprenticeship at Cress?
As a high volume firm, apprentices with Cress are able to get exposure to many different aspects of funeral service. Our apprentice program involves rotating the reporting location for apprentices so that they get to see how our different locations work with their communities, and they get experience in both front of house and back of house areas. We pair apprentices with preceptors that care about their development and growth, and hold periodic check-ins to make sure that each apprentice is getting what they need to flourish into a competent funeral director.

Why Madison?
Madison is a delightful combination of small college town and midsize metropolitan. As state capitol and the home of UW-Madison, there are plenty of activities available throughout the year – sports events, music, art, theater, etc. Madison has all the amenities you need (without the major traffic headaches of a large metro area) including shop-ping centers, excellent dining, plenty of craft breweries, and beautiful lakes with many trails for walking or biking. It is also a very dog-friendly city if you have a canine companion! The airport in Madison is continually adding destinations for direct flights, and we are only a short jaunt from Chicago airports which fly internationally and almost anywhere in the US.
