Woodwind Lessons, Materials of Music (Music Theory) and Music Appreciation
Susan received her Bachelor of Music degree in oboe from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and the Master of Music degree from Drake University in Des Moines. She teaches music appreciation, music theory (Materials of Music), and woodwind private lessons at DMACC. She is a member of the Des Moines Symphony, the Des Moines Symphony Woodwind Quinter, Lyric Winds, the Bruch Trio, the Amadeus Trio, and has performed with many central Iowa choirs and chamber orchestras. Ms. Odem is adjunct instructor of double reeds at Simpson College in Indianola and at Central College in Pella; she also teaches a large private studio of double reed students. As a clinician, she has presented master classes and seminars for the Iowa Bandmasters Association, the Des Moines Symphony, Central College, and public schools throughout the State.
