MUS 100 WW, Music Appreciation
MUS 100 WW, Music Appreciation, is the same course as that which is offered in the face-to-face format and it uses the same textbook and CDs. Students MUST purchase both the book and the set of cds that goes with it. Recordings of the music the course covers and which students must study are not embedded; studying of the music can only be done by playing the cds. The cds are not used when taking tests or the Final Exam, however. Please read on for further information about this.
Internet MUS 100 WW is housed in Canvas, as are many other DMACC Internet courses. Students use the same log-in information to access the course that they use when they register for DMACC classes via the Internet or when they check their DMACC e-mail.
Because all tests and the final exam are timed and include music clips to which students must listen to determine answers, the computer on which students take the tests and the exam MUST run minimally at DSL connection speed. Music files are large and dial-up connections won't load data fast enough to allow students time to hear all the music clips and make answer responses within the time limit that is set for each test. It is the students' responsibility to know about this and to take the appropriate action.
MUS 202 WW, World Music
This is the same course as that which is offered in the face-to-face format and it uses the same textbook and CDs.
Students who register for any DMACC course that is delivered via the Internet must:
- understand and be comfortable with basic computer processes; it is not the professor's job to teach them.
- be self-motivated enough to meet their course obligations on time. To do so, the students must create a plan or schedule for themselves so as to assure that they know and plan ahead for course deadlines.
- accept the fact that they must check their DMACC email messages regularly. Important course information will be sent to the students via DMACC email.
