Our Mission
The mission of the Des Moines Area Community College Libraries is to provide access to curriculum-related and professional development materials to meet the diverse information needs as well as contribute to the lifelong learning goals of students, faculty, and staff in all College programs and support services. Instructional, professional, and technical services necessary for the use of these resources is also provided. We actively promote the development of information literacy through formal instruction, class presentations and interaction with our library users.
Our Resources
Our library collections include books, periodical subscriptions, videos & DVDs, and other non-print media. From our Web page, we provide our students, faculty and staff access to a wide range of online resources. These include our library catalog, electronic books, audio books, numerous databases containing full text reference sources for popular and scholarly periodical articles, and other information resources. We provide online reference and research assistance.
Our libraries are located at the Ankeny, Carroll, Boone, Newton, Urban (Des Moines), and West (West Des Moines) campuses of Des Moines Area Community College.

Our Affiliations
We are full members of the Online Computer Library Center, Inc. (OCLC), an internationally recognized bibliographic utility, which provides important products and services to member libraries and their users. DMACC is a member of the Polk County Biomedical Consortium, a group of health science libraries affiliated with the National Library of Medicine. We also participate in the State Library of Iowa's Open Access program, which allows our cardholders to borrow materials from other participating libraries.
