Purchasing New Digital and Web Based Content

Before purchasing new digital or web based content or media, the purchaser is to ensure that the item(s) meet(s) required accessibility standards or the purchaser is to determine how accessibility will be addressed, if not fully accessible. 

  1. Complete the Digital Accessibility Review Form
  2. Review/print the company’s Voluntary Product Technology statement (VPAT 2.0) when available, by searching on the company website (not required for purchase of videos)
  3. Request that the vendor complete and return the WCAG 2.0 Digital Support Checklist
  4. Provide the WCAG 2.0 Digital Support Checklist to the vendor
  5. Submit these items to the Provost (when applicable) for review and to the program Dean for approval prior to purchase:
    1. completed Digital Accessibility Review Form,
    2. company’s Voluntary Product Technology statement (VPAT), and
    3. WCAG 2.0 Digital Support Checklist
  6. The Provost/Dean will review and address the purchase
  7. Repeat this process before renewal of any digital product
  8. Videos only need assurance of the availability of closed captioning
