DMACC Spanish Department

Spainimagecropped.pngWelcome to the homepage for the DMACC Spanish Department!

DMACC offers a four-semester sequence of courses in Spanish that are similar in level to those offered in most high schools. Click on Course Descriptions to learn more.

These classes are often an integral part of many students’ Liberal Arts study, since they count as core courses in Humanities. All four courses readily transfer to four-year colleges and universities in Iowa, but students can always verify with their prospective transfer institution to ensure a smooth transition.

Developing (or expanding) your language abilities can also be a key part of preparing for your career, as bilingual employees are in high demand in numerous fields.

Need help selecting a class?
At DMACC, there is no formal placement system for students who want to enroll in Spanish, though the pre-requisite courses listed for the upper level classes are designed to help. Students should consider what previous courses they have already completed (in high school or at other institutions) along with how much they remember and select a level that seems appropriate.

If you need help deciding which class is best for you, please speak with your advisor or contact one of the Spanish professors listed below for assistance.
