Apply Now! — DMACC Foundation Now Accepting Scholarship Applications for 2024-2025 Academic Year

Posted May 9, 2024

DMACC students, don't leave scholarship money on the table!

The DMACC Foundation is here to help you pursue your educational dreams and is thrilled to launch the second cycle of the DMACC Foundation Scholarship program.

Now through July 15th, students can apply for DMACC Foundation scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year, which includes the fall 2024, spring 2025 and summer 2025 terms.

Some important notes for students:

  • Completion of the FAFSA is NOT required for DMACC Foundation scholarships.

  • The DMACC Foundation offers many different scholarships (check them out here), but you don't have to fill out an individual application for each scholarship you're interested in! Instead, the DMACC Foundation Award Management System only asks students to fill out one (yes, just one!) general scholarship application, which is then used to automatically match students with any of the DMACC Foundation Scholarship opportunities for which they are qualified.

  • If you applied for DMACC Foundation Scholarship during the first application cycle earlier this year and did not receive a scholarship, your application is still active in the system! You can update and review your application until the July 15th deadline.

  • Reminder: All communications regarding your DMACC Foundation Scholarship application will be directed to your dmacc.edu email address, so don't forget to regularly check it.

APPLY NOW: Don't delay! Submit your application any time before the July 15th deadline.

Nancy, who grew up in Ankeny and graduated from Ankeny High School, is retiring from DMACC after serving as a Student Accounts Receivable Specialist on the College's Ankeny Campus for the past 16 years. Nancy has been married to her husband Bob — who is also a longtime DMACC employee — for 44 years, and between the two of them, they share 58 years of dedicated service to DMACC.

The Frisks' have two sons, both of whom benefited from a DMACC education. Their eldest son, Justin, and his wife, Deb, have five children — Ayden, Davin, Jace, Braxton and Jordyn — who currently attend or plan to attend DMACC. Their youngest, Joshua, is a surgical nurse in Colorado.

Nancy said she has several fond memories of DMACC, including representing DMACC at many off-campus functions and most recently, watching her grandson, Ayden, perform in the DMACC Black Box Theatre. One of her favorite memories, she said, was locating a DMACC graduate moments before commencement ceremonies were set to begin to let her know that her father had arrived after international flight delays — and then taking a photo of them together.

DMACC Honors Students Create Digital Cookbook as Student Resource

Posted May 6, 2024

This semester, a group of five DMACC Honors students collaborated to create a FREE digital cookbook as a resource for students. The students came up with the idea as part of a group service-learning project in their HON100 Introduction to Honors course.

"Our idea was was to provide access to easy-to-make and time-constraint-friendly recipes to allow students the opportunity to make their own foods," said Sophie Etnier, a DMACC Honors and Psychology-Transfer student from Johnston. "We know ordering out regularly can often become pretty pricey, and we also know many students don't know where to begin cooking for themselves, so we made this cookbook to help bridge that gap between students and the kitchen."

To view the cookbook, just click here.

With any questions about the cookbook, please email Sophie Entnier at scetnier@dmacc.edu.
