 DMACC Hires New Dean of Student Success and Urban Student Services

  • Erin Lee Schneider has a diverse background, including serving as a staff attorney with the Legal Aid Society of Story County, as executive director of a literacy and mentoring program, and as a staff assistant to a U.S. Senator.

  • Schneider has been recognized as one of the Des Moines Business Record's '40 Under Forty' honorees.

  • Schneider will be based at the DMACC Urban/Des Moines Campus.

DMACC​ has hired Erin Lee Schneider to serve as Dean of Student Success & Urban Student Services. Schneider, an Iowa attorney, will be based at the DMACC Urban/Des Moines Campus.

For the past seven years, Schneider served as the Assistant Dean for Student Services at Drake University Law School. She previously served as a Staff Attorney with the Legal Aid Society of Story County, Executive Director of the literacy and mentoring program Everybody Wins! Iowa, and as a staff assistant and caseworker for a former United States Senator.

Schneider currently serves on the Attorney Grievance Commission and has been active in the National Association of Law Student Affairs Professionals. She has previously served on the National Advisory Council for Equal Justice Works and as President of the Story County Bar Association. She has been recognized as one of the Des Moines Business Record's "40 Under Forty" honorees.

Schneider is a first-generation college student who received her Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Iowa State University and her Juris Doctor (JD) from Drake University Law School, where she was honored as a Drake Public Service Scholar.

"Erin brings with her a wealth of experiences, and we are thrilled to welcome her to DMACC." said Erica Spiller, DMACC Vice President of Student Affairs. “Her passion for improving systems to increase access and efficiency will be an asset to students, the college and the community."    

Schneider lives in Ankeny with her husband and two children.

She begins work at DMACC on Oct. 16.
