Learning Communities

Turn your commuter experience into a community experience.

Learning Communities consist of two (or more) classes from different content areas taught by professors who will connect the content of each course in innovative and meaningful ways. The result tends to make homework and studying richer and fuller in meaning and application. The connections made between subjects, between fellow students, between students and instructors are enriched and long-lasting. Furthermore, learning community courses meet degree and certificate requirements just as the stand-alone classes would, but with the added enhancement gained by the learning community experience.

  • You will discover how the two or more disciplines relate.
  • You will get to know your classmates better.
  • You might make friends for life.
  • You will get to know and be known by your professors in more meaningful ways.

Getting connected means being involved with other classmates and with your professors. When you register for Learning Communities courses, you will need to enroll in both classes at the same time. Withdrawal from one connected course means you must also withdraw from the other course in the community.
