Former DMACC Softball Standout Courtney Donahue Named CSC Academic All-American of the Year

Former DMACC softball standout Courtney Donahue is one of five student-athletes named to the 2023-24 Academic All-American Women's At-Large teams selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC)​.

In addition to Donahue, the honorees included Hanna Abrahamsson from the University of Colorado, Allie Bianchi of Henderson State University, Lexi Onsrud from Illinois Wesleyan University and Lara Kurt from Savannah College of Art and Design. Abrahamson was honored in the  NCAA Division I category, Bianchi in NCAA Division II, Onsrud in NCAA Division III, Kurt in NAIA and Donahue in the College Division.

Donahue, a native of Eau Claire, Wis., posted a 4.00 grade point average (GPA) as a health science major while attending DMACC and pitching for the softball team in 2022-23 and 2023-24.

Donahue's most recent honor comes on the heels of her being named a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II All-American, the TUCCI/NFCA NJCAA Division II Pitcher of the Year and an NFCA NJCAA Division II First Team All-American. TUCCI is a baseball/softball brand that offers wood bats, metal/composite bats and batter protection equipment.

Earlier this spring, Donahue was named to the NJCAA All-Region Softball Team and was named Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Pitcher of the Year. Donahue led NJCAA Division II and the ICCAC in strikeouts with 386. She led the ICCAC in wins with 26 and in earned run average at 0.94. Donahue ranked third in NJCAA Division II in ERA and tied for third in wins with 26. Her 386 strikeouts were 103 more than any other softball pitcher in NJCAA Division II.

Donahue, who pitched 12 shutouts and several perfect games, in compiling a 26-4 record in 2024, helped the DMACC Softball team to a 47-11 record and the Bears' 10th consecutive appearance in the NJCAA Division II Softball World Series. She pitched 186 and two-thirds innings, allowing 32 runs, 25 earned runs, on 73 hits. In addition to striking out 386 batters, Donahue issued 31 walks and averaged 14.48 strikeouts per seven innings. She boasted a .56 WHIP (walks and hits per innings pitched).

Donahue has signed a national letter of intent to continue her education at the University of Missouri and play softball.​
