How You Can Support Pamela's Pantry & DMACC Students in Need of Food Assistance

DMACC faculty, staff and community members, did you know that DMACC students who are in need of food assistance can access FREE food from Pamela's Pantry at three different locations on the DMACC Ankeny Campus? Our pantry locations are open access and students and may take what they need while being mindful of the needs of their fellow students.

The pantry's three locations on the Ankeny Campus are as follows:

  • Bldg. #6, Library Hallway — Pantry Fridge & Freezer (next to vending machines)

  • Bldg. #6, just outside the DMACC Disability Services Office — Dry Goods Shelves

  • Bldg. #5, inside the Student Services Office — Dry Goods Shelves

The dry goods shelves are stocked daily by DMACC staff, and the fridge receives donations multiple times per week from local businesses – check the sign on the door for a list of upcoming donations.

How can you help?

  • Donate to the fridge: Donations should be sealed, labeled and dated. Due to allergy considerations, please do not donate homemade items.

  • Spread the word: Tell students about this resource and make sure remind them that they can sign up to receive FREE email alerts to let them know when food is available in the Pantry Fridge! We would also welcome your help in asking local businesses if they would like to participate with donations.

  • Sign up for donation deliveries: Download the Eat Greater Des Moines app on your mobile device and look out for food rescue opportunities.

Thank you to the Pamela's Pantry Committee for ensuring we have assistance for our students! The committee members are Sharon Bittner, Drea Iseminger, Jasmine McAleavey, Nick Navara, Joanne Purtill and Erin Smith.

With any questions and/or suggestions, please email the committee at pamelaspantry@dmacc.edu.

Thank you — we appreciate your support!
