The Boone Campus Social Justice Club works to foster an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus culture. Students can discuss social justice issues and get involved with opportunities to build community and create meaningful change. We focus on raising awareness, activism, and justice education.
All are welcome! We meet every Monday from 12:15 pm-12:45 pm in Room 149 on the Boone Campus. If you would like to attend virtually, just let us know and we will send you the Zoom link.
Our current projects include DMACC LGBTQIA+ Pride t-shirts, stewardship of The Woods food pantry, creating The Bear Necessities (a food pantry at the Hunziker Center in Ames), and maintaining the Monarch Waystation. We look forward to future opportunities to get involved with the community, including Ames Pride and hosting visiting speakers and performers.
Past projects include The Red Sand Project, annual donation drives to benefit Boone County ACCESS and The Woods food pantry, film screenings, voter registration drives, visiting speakers from the Iowa ACLU, annual participation in Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, and the creation of a registered Monarch Waystation.
